Whew!

Well, Columbus weekend already!? Ok, that went quickly!! We finished up with the powerpoint presentations right on schedule today, and naturally, I forgot the flashdrive at school. So, sorry parents, friends, fans...I can't upload your students' efforts until Tuesday at the earliest :(  (Of course, that's assuming I will figure out how to upload it at all! Of course I will!)

Either way, your students got to research and to share information on some very cool people this week. They took notes on each other's presentations, and with the fruit of their labors, they will be writing a beautiful five paragraph essay on Tuesday, describing some of the people that they learned about. GOOD STUFF!!!

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we will discuss, among other things, the Declaration of Independence...can't wait!

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend, as well as the extra day off from school. I know I will!

"You say you want a Revolution??? Well...."

Yes kids, it's the Beatles. (Nevermind, your parents know what I'm talking about. Sigh....)

Anyway, we started a new unit this week! REVOLUTION!!! Good stuff.

The students learned about main causes, linking information from the previous unit to what is now happening in the the colonies. For the next few days, they will be working in groups to research some lesser known, but very key "players" who contributed to the revolutionary movement. The information that is discovered will then be collaboratively and creatively presented on Friday to the class in the form of a multimedia presentation of the groups' choice (most use PowerPoint.)

I hope to post the presentations here for families to access...stay tuned!

You did it!

Good job First Block! Today, students completed their first unit test, demonstrating understanding and knowledge of the concepts discussed during study of the Colonization and Settlement Period. Although results will not be in for a day or two, it was clear from the concentration and effort put forth during the test that the students had prepared well and that the Interactive Notebooks are paying off!!!

I'm proud of you all and especially looking forward to reading your essays!!!!
